When it comes to collectible Pokémon cards, few categories command attention like Tag Team GX cards. These dynamic duos (and sometimes trios) of legendary, mythical, and fan-favorite Pokémon are not only visually stunning—they’ve become some of the most sought-after treasures in the modern collector’s world.
Whether you’re chasing nostalgia, building a jaw-dropping binder display, or investing in tomorrow’s high-value collectibles, Tag Team cards are where aesthetic meets ambition.
What Makes Tag Team Cards So Collectible?
1. Iconic Pokémon Pairings
Think Pikachu & Zekrom, Charizard & Reshiram, or Mewtwo & Mew. These aren’t random combos—they’re dream matches that fuel both childhood nostalgia and collector hype.
3. Stunning Full-Art and Rainbow Rares
The artwork on Tag Team cards is in a league of its own. Many versions come in alternate full-art, rainbow rare, and gold variants, perfect for display or PSA grading. Some collectors even specialize in completing full Tag Team sets!
4. Collector Demand is Rising
As more fans return to the hobby, Tag Team cards are seeing a surge in demand. Graded versions and sealed products from this era are especially hot on platforms like eBay, TCGPlayer, and Whatnot.
Collector Favorites
Here’s a deeper dive into standout Tag Team cards that are beloved by collectors—and in many cases, rapidly gaining value:
Latias & Latios (170/181 Tag Team)

Latias & Latias from Sun & Moon also known as the love birds is without a doubt the most popular (and expensive) card from Tag Team. It is a collector’s must-have, however, ranging from 1000-4000 USD depending on its grade it is not for everyone. A cheaper alternative is the 113/181 version, at a cheaper buy-in of 100~ USD and can be bought here.
Mewtwo & Mew GX (SM191 Promo)

A surreal, pastel-colored card featuring two iconic psychics in a dreamy pose. Despite being a promo that was more accessible than some of the cards with ridiculous pull rates from the Tag Team sets it still fetches a high price, however, looking at the card we would say WORTH IT.
Gengar & Mimikyu GX Team Up

Our favourite with a spooky-fun tag team of fan favourite Gengar and Mimikyu this card has cult appeal. The alt art features an eerie haunted house background. This is still an affordable card, however, quickly increasing in price, so if you like the card we would recommend buying it now. If you only care about the artwork, then we recommend buying it in Chinese as these go for as little as 20-30 USD here.
Eevee & Snorlax GX (SM169)

Another fun promo at an affordable price. This adorable combo pairs two of the most beloved Pokémon into one delightful collector’s item with them both eating. We are not sure what they are eating but it looks good!
Umbreon & Darkrai (SM241)

Another promo that is simply too good to pass up. This pair also comes at a very reasonable price despite being one of the most beautiful cards in the set. It has quickly been going up, and pictures does not do it justice.
Where to Find Tag Team Cards
Looking to snag these gems before they skyrocket even more? Here are a few solid places to start:
- eBay – The number one place to find graded and raw copies. Click here if you want the most optimal search link.
- TCGPlayer – If you are looking to buy singles.
- Hunt for Sealed Booster Boxes from the Tag Team Era on eBay – Only if you are into gambling, the odds are not in your favour! We recommend buying Japanese boxes for better pull rates!!!
Pro Tip: Cards with alternate art or graded PSA 10 tend to appreciate faster—great for long-term collectors and investors.
So.. Tag Team cards?
Tag Team cards are more than just cardboard—they’re collectible art, nostalgia triggers, and status symbols in the Pokémon world. Whether you’re curating your dream binder or investing in high-potential cards, this short-lived era of Pokémon TCG offers both beauty and rarity.
The Tag Team era may be over—but its legacy is just beginning.
